About Last Minute Gear and James Dong
Last Minute Gear is an outdoor gear shop, with a broader mission to make the outdoors more accessible while reducing waste and unnecessary over-consumption. Like a traditional retailer, they sell brand new, high quality equipment. But unconventionally, they also have a 24/7/365 rental program, with some of the same high quality equipment at 90% off retail prices. They also host a free-to-borrow community gear library. Based in San Francisco, but serving the Bay Area and beyond!
James founded Last Minute Gear after working at Bain & Company and graduating from Haas because he believes in business for good.Outside of work, James is an avid outdoorsman (though if he’s honest, most of his free time is spent on gym walls as opposed to granite walls), and always trying to get others to join him on his crazy adventures.
